Steve was a member of the Brandywine Heights High School Fife and Drum Corps from 2002-2004 where he served as Drum Lieutenant and Drum Captain. He has a history education degree and Pennsylvania German Studies minor from Kutztown University. He has spent his career as a marketing leader and is very active at his church, Heritage Bible Fellowship Church in Kutztown.

 

At the Topton Halloween parade in October 2024, he watched the Brandywine Heights high school band march by without a fife and drum corps. The thought of the corps that he loved no longer existing made him feel sad, nostalgic, and impulsive. Immediately he felt the duty, a sacred calling: “Revive the tradition. Rebuild the corps. Rekindle the pride." That night he reached out to several alumni and told them he was “putting the band back together!." The idea to start an alumni fife and drum corps would become the Brandywine Colonials. The Brandywine Heights fife and drum corps was one of the most special things he ever participated in and he believed it was a program that is worth holding on to.  When he recruited our Vice President, Joshua Fink, they met for lunch in late October 2024. Joshua told Steve that if they would be able to recruit enough people, outfit them with instruments and uniforms, organize as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and become performance ready in time for the Topton Halloween parade in 2025, it would be a Herculean effort...We did it in seven months!​
